Causes of Radiculopathy

- Spinal injuries
These conditions can narrow the spaces where spinal nerves exit the spine, placing pressure on the nerve roots.
Diagnosis and Treatment of Radiculopathy
To diagnose radiculopathy, Dr. Patel will begin with a physical examination and review of the patient’s medical history. Imaging studies such as X-rays, MRI scans, or CT scans may be used to identify the source of nerve compression. In some cases, electromyography (EMG) may also be used to evaluate nerve function.
Many patients improve with conservative treatments, including:
- Physical therapy
- Anti-inflammatory medications
- Activity modification
- Targeted spinal injections
If symptoms persist or if significant nerve compression is present, surgical treatment may be recommended to relieve pressure on the affected nerve.
